If it happens to take the SS 51, in the backdrop of the Dolomites, in the land of Cadore, for tourists, as for the inhabitants of the area, on the edge of the road for a length of 3 km, there is a novelty in the field of road safety barriers. |
The SCT of Brescia has been working for many years in the field of sound or noise mitigation, specifically in the production of wooden noise barriers. The choice of wood for acoustic panels is determined by the attention to natural materials of the company with the utmost respect for the environment. The advantages of wood are numerous, from the perfect integration into any natural landscape to the pleasant appearance; from the complete non-toxicity and recyclability of materials, such as polyester or vegetable fibers with high insulation, to the positive life cycle that guarantees high quality sound (39 dBA of sound insulation); from the easy mounting, to the more varied opportunities to customize various aesthetic solutions. The wood, combined with transparent materials, permits, even in an urbanized environment, to reconcile the ancient and the modern, natural and derived, in a certainly appreciated aesthetic solution. From an initial need for mitigation of noise pollution has gone to the definition of more complex effects that the installation of soundproof panels generates, not only the landscape but on users who benefit from the product .. The "Quiet Areas" are areas in the urban context in which the inclusion of anti-noise panels, noise barriers, otherwise defined, is in conformity with the search for a better quality of life. Authoritative European universities are developing studies related to their definition and design of these specific areas. It isin this context that the development of new panels is working, using environmentally friendly techniques: SCT has, among its priorities, attention to these studies, as well as current technological developments. Unique among manufacturers, representing the wood, SCT has contributed to the definition and drafting of the Guidelines on noise barriers UNI 11160. This rule is the main reference for all stakeholders, allowing the market to incorporate noise barriers of higher quality standards than those present today. There were defined for the first time the non-acoustic characteristics of durability: "The lifetime of service to be provided is 15 years for the acoustic elements and 30 years for structural elements, such as additional beams or walls. For each type of acoustic and structural element of a system, the manufacturer must submit on request a certificate for the duration of life expectancy in relation to non-acoustic characteristics. The certificate should also include the classification of environmental conditions used for the evaluation (with reference to CEI EN 60721-3-4), the specification of the design procedures used (for example, structural Eurocodes) and open field or other kind conducted experiments that led to the determination of service life declared. " There were also defined for the first time the maintenance requirements. The installer of the anti-noise system must provide to the customer, as soon as work was completed, a maintenance plan for insulating walls or absorbent after the first 15 years, clearly specifying the activities to be performed, the materials, the equipment and expertise to be used and burden on each component of the anti-noise system and for each scheduled maintenance activity. |
In the town of Ortisei is set in place an experimental installation that fully addresses the issue of rehabilitation of tunnels in operation. It is not a simple intervention of makeup, but a set of solutions that involve the structure and the plant and equipment of the tunnel. The project, called "Eridio Tunnel System ", is being developed by SCT, a company specialized in operations characterized by the successful conjugation of road safety and reducing environmental impact, in collaboration with leading partners, to address every aspect of the intervention with great professionalism. Ecology, energy savings, and road safety are combined in a renewed approach to road design and road tunnels in particular, the emblem of the contrast between functional benefits and environmental impact / aesthetics. Passing over ecological fads, integrated design is the right way to solve complex problems and combine the needs of users, institutions and local operators. The solution in the Ortisei gallery consists in the restoring and smoothing of the tunnel’s walls, which, together with a special three-layer paint system, composed of acrylic paint, enamel siloxane and titanium dioxide (TiO2) will make walls and ceiling of the gallery very clear and resistant to fouling. A particular treatment based on an absolutely natural photochemical process allows to transform the entire inner surface of the tunnel in a device that can reduce the black-smoke and other pollutants. The system offers many advantages: it contributes greatly to maintain the decorum of a critical infrastructure in a touristic destination, provides the durability of the visibility and perception conditions in the tunnel, limiting pollutants emissions that can accumulate inside tunnel. The innovations also involve the tunnel lighting system that was specifically designed taking into account two factors: the paint system, thanks to the smooth and reflective properties of the coating, the luminance of the walls results increased, the road takes advantage of the peculiarities of the particular asphalt called "albino" alternative to the existing asphalt blasting, so the road appears clear as if it were much more enlightened than it actually is. Thanks to these arrangements and full use of LED fixtures, there is possible to install a lighting system that allows to consume 45% less than in a gallery built with traditional systems. The higher quality of light and a higher service continuity gratify the management bodies for the maintenance reduction, with great advantage for users who do not suffer the inconveniences (noise and traffic) of the frequent sites that tunnel maintenance require |
